WONDER WOOL- SLEEP BETTER WITH MERINO SLEEPWEAR

Merino wool can do wonders for our sleep, studies in Australia have shown that we can sleep up to 15 minutes longer by wearing merino wool pajamas compared to cotton. So how can merino pajamas help us to stop counting sheep and to start sleeping better?

  1. KEEP THE BEST TEMPERATURE FOR SLEEP

Keeping the ideal sleeping temperature is vital to enjoy a truly restorative sleep, if we are hot and cold at night in particular our deep sleep phases are impacted negatively. Researcher Dr Paul Swan, from the University of Sydney, explains:

"Maybe it is not a coincidence because wool regulates your body temperature far better, keeping you in what is known as 'the thermal comfort zone'. You therefore not only fall asleep quicker, sleep longer, but also have deeper, better quality sleep.

Merino wool is your ideal sleep companion all year around, regardless of temperature. This is due to the unique structure of the wool that enables it to cool you down when hot, and warm you up when you are cold. Merino wool sheep live in climates that vary from scorching hot to freezing cold and the natural engineering of the wool enables them to survive and thrive regardless of the temperature:

  • If it’s cold the natural crimp of the wool create insulating air pockets, which trap more air than any other fibre and that way build a defence against the cold. It’s this natural defence that keep the merino wool sheep warm when the temperature drops to below -10°C.
  • If it’s warm the super lightweight and breathable merino wool keeps the sheep cold even if the temperatures exceed 30°C.
  1. DON’T WORRY ABOUT NIGHT SWEATS

Merino wool truly is nature’s wearable thermostat. When we get hot at night the fibres absorb our sweat and evaporate it on the outside of our merino pajamas which keeps us cool and comfortable. If it's cold outside, the moisture vapors condense inside the fiber, which gives off heat keeping us comfortably warm. This makes merino wool the ideal defence against night sweats and the perfect fibre for a summer pajamas as well as a winter pajamas.

Merino wool pjs can absorb and release twice as much moisture vapour as cotton sleepwear and 30 times more than synthetic sleepwear.

  1. STAY FRESH ALL NIGHT LONG

Merino wool pajamas keeps you fresh longer than other natural or synthetic fibres. Partly because it’s so breathable that you don’t overheat and start to sweat in the first place but also because it absorbs all odor molecules and only release them when you wash your merino nightwear. The result? You stay fresh all night even in the hottest nights. Don't worry about sweating while sleeping, regardless of if you are looking for a warm pajamas or a cooling pajamas you are in safe hands with merino wool.

  1. GIVE YOUR SKIN THE BEST REST POSSIBLE

Merino wool is proven to be therapeutic for sensitive skin, the extraordinary temperature and moisture regulation properties of merino wool creates a micro climate that is very beneficial for sensitive skin. Merino wool pajamas is also naturally anti-bacterial which helps to reduce skin irritation.

Research conducted by Woolmark in collaboration with the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute in Melbourne has proven that wearing super-fine merino wool closest to your skin is therapeutic for eczema suffers.

  1. SLEEP EASY WITH A GOOD CONSCIENCE

Merino wool is a totally natural and sustainable fibre. While synthetic fibres take between 20 and 200 years to biodegrade, merino wool take only 6 months to biodegrade.

At Dagsmejan we only use certified, mulesing-free merino wool from farms that focus on the wellbeing of the animals in there are.
