A six-step journey — from laboratory insight to real-life comfort.

At Dagsmejan, every collection begins in the lab and ends in better sleep.

Developed in Switzerland with leading universities, textile laboratories, and sleep experts, our innovation process combines scientific research, advanced textile engineering, and independent validation — so you can rest in the knowledge that your sleepwear truly performs.

1. Understanding Our Physiological Sleep Needs

Research & Scientific Insight

We begin by analysing how temperature, moisture, and sensory comfort affect each stage of the sleep cycle. Through partnerships with experts such as Dr. Roy Raymann (Sleep & Thermoregulation) and Dr. Lutz Graumann (Sleep & Recovery), as well as research institutes including HSLU and EMPA, we translate
science into design objectives.

Focus areas: thermoregulation, moisture balance, muscle recovery, and skin health

Validation: reviewed by academic partners to ensure physiological relevance

"There are companies that rush their products to market - and then there's Dagsmejan. I was immediately impressed that they consulted scientific experts in textiles, temperature regulation and sleep before the first stitch was sewn. My PhD investigated links between thermoregulation, sleep and insomnia, and I saw straight away that Dagsmejan sleepwear could balance one's environment with one's body." — Professor Michael Gradisar, Sleep Researcher, Clinical Sleep Psychologist

2. Developing Smart Fabrics & Designs

Textile Innovation Meets Design Engineering

Our scientists and designers co-develop exclusive NATT™ technologies — natural, intelligent fabrics that respond to your body’s needs through the night.

Innovation focus:

  • Permanent moisture channels and responsive heat transfer
  • Mineral infusions for muscle recovery
  • Zinc-enriched fibres for sensitive skin care

Sustainability:
renewable fibres (FSC®, PEFC®), ethical sourcing (NATIVA™ merino), low-impact European production

Validation: material and fibre properties confirmed in partner labs before garment testing

3. Laboratory Testing

Objective Proof of Performance

Every fabric undergoes independent lab analyses to measure thermal and moisture performance versus standard textiles. Testing is conducted by EMPA, Hohenstein, and other accredited labs.

Testing methods:

  • Flat testing – breathability, moisture transport, drying speed
  • Torso testing – simulates body heat and sweat release
  • Climate-chamber testing – reproduces night-time temperature and humidity changes

Metrics assessed:
heat resistance, evaporative cooling, moisture absorption, breathability

Validation: results benchmarked against cotton and polyester fabrics

Example outcome: NATTCOOL™ proven 8× more breathable and dries in ⅓ the time of cotton (EMPA 2023).

4. Dermatological & Clinical Testing

Safety and Skin Compatibility, Independently Verified

For fabrics with active properties like zinc we commission clinical grade independent dermatological studies.

  • Partners: Dermatest GmbH (Germany) and certified European clinics
  • Testing types: Patch tests, irritation and sensitivity studies, double-blind comparisons
  • Results: NATTSENSITIVE™ rated “Excellent” for skin tolerance and regeneration

Validation:
Compliant with EU Cosmetic Regulation and REACH standards

“ Sensitive skin is a nuisance during the day, but it can become a menace during the night when blood flow in our skin is increasing and irritations are seriously disturbing our sleep quality. Dagsmejan has developed a new kind of sleepwear that is helping to sooth skin irritation while we sleep. The benefits of the NATTSENSITIVE™ sleepwear have been confirmed in a dermatological application study by Dermatest. This is why I can highly recommend those products.” — Dr. med. Werner Voss— Specialist in Dermatology

5. Wear & Fit Testing

Real People. Real Sleep.

Performance in the lab is only part of the story — the true test happens in bed.

We conduct multi-week wear trials across age groups, body shapes, and climates to guarantee all-night comfort.

What we test:

  • Comfort perception and temperature stability
  • Sweat control and moisture distribution
  • Fabric softness, stretch recovery, and seam comfort

Validation:
participant feedback and biometric data feed directly into design refinements before final production.

“We don’t just test fabrics — we test sleep.”

6. Independent Quality Assurance & Certifications

Trusted by Science. Verified by Standards.

Before reaching you, every Dagsmejan garment is reviewed by internal specialists and independent quality institutes to ensure performance, purity, and sustainability.

Certifications:

  • OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 – certified skin-safe
  • bluesign® – responsible production
  • FSC® / PEFC® – renewable wood sources
  • NATIVA™ – traceable, mulesing-free merino

Validation: testing for color fastness & shrinkage. Control of garment quality, seams and fabric.

Every Dagsmejan garment is certified safe for you — and sustainable for the planet.
